Origin: Trump Signals Future Engagement With Kim
In the Oval Office with South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, President Donald Trump said he wants to meet North Korea’s Kim Jong Un this year. He also said he looks forward to seeing Kim in the “appropriate future.” He praised his “great relationship” with Kim.
Lee encouraged the outreach, saying he looked forward to Trump’s meeting with Kim and asking him to help bring peace on the peninsula. He even floated a Trump Tower in North Korea and a round of golf. Trump asked Lee, “We’ll arrange a meeting between you and Kim Jong-un. Would you like that?”
Trump did not set a date or outline a format for talks.
